We are all familiar with the issue of “Zhi Jhi Chha” on feet or hands. Usually, the temporary numbness that occurs when the feet or hands are pressed for a long time is called jhi jh.
This symptom is called ‘paraesthesia’ in medical terms. In the part of the body where the jhi jhi takes place, there is a feeling of numbness as well as a feeling as if many needles are being poked at the same time.
After sitting or lying down for a long time, if the arm or leg is in a position where it is subjected to prolonged pressure, there is a possibility of tingling. Changing the position relieves such sensations, as the associated nerve is decompressed. Hence it is called ‘temporary paresthesia’ or ‘temporary tingling’.
But due to various reasons, there are cases of long-term jhee jhee. If you have persistent dizziness, it should be understood that there is an underlying health problem or medical disorder in the body. This is called ‘chronic paresthesia’. Chronic paresthesia cannot be eliminated unless the health problem is identified and treated. So if it doesn’t work even after changing the position or if you get tingling even after the physical posture is correct, you should go to the doctor. Here are five techniques to get rid of temporary tingling.
* Decompress the nerve: Relieving the pressure from the concerned nerve will relieve the tingling sensation. Change posture (such as sitting with your feet up or sleeping with your arms propped up) to relieve pressure on the nerves. That is if the posture seems to be straining the nerves, change the position.
* Move: Walking or moving will increase blood flow and relieve the uncomfortable feeling of tingling. If you are sitting cross-legged, try to walk slowly or take the weight off your hands. As a result, the blood flow will return to normal and the tingling sensation will disappear within a few minutes.
* Clench and open fists: If you have a tingling sensation in your hand or arm, clench and unclench your hands. Repeat the process a few times. This exercise will increase blood flow and calm the nerves. The exercise is very effective in getting rid of the feeling of zhi zhi.
* Move your toes up and down: If you have tingling in your feet, moving your toes (especially up and down) can help. Moving the toes up and down restores normal blood flow or increases circulation. It relieves numbness in the feet.
